The first ever Ship To Ship (STS) Transfer operation was successfully carried out at Sandheads anchorage, off Halidia and under the Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port (Kolkata) , the vessel with J M Baxi & Co. as their agents , arrived at Sandheads carrying 55132.739 MT of Carbon Black Feedstock (CBFS) oil in bulk from Houston. TX USA and New Orleans for a Kolkata based Importer Himadri Speciality Chemical Ltd.

 

Vessel drawing a Fresh water draft in excess of the allowable drafts at Haldia , first transferred the cargo onto the daughter vessel through Ship to Ship Transfer at anchorage and thereafter achieving the draft and transferring about 27846.057 MT cargo entered the riverinne channel and discharged the balance cargo at Haldia, both the Mother as well as the daughter vessel discharged the cargo at Haldia berth.
