WHAT IS FREIGHT TAX IN INDIAN PORTS ?

a. For Export Loading in India ports Freight Tax is applicable @ 3.276% on total freight earnned by freight benificary

b. Freight tax can be exempted if freight benificary country having DTAA with Indian Govt and subject to submission of relevant documents

c. Following Document required

  1. Certificate of Incorporation 
  2. Certificate of Tax Residency
  3. Voyage Charter party
  4. Time Charter party
  5. Indian Pan Card for Foreign Client - (Permanent Account No )

d. There is no freight tax applicable on Import shipments.

CREW CHANGE IN INDIAN PORT

a. All nationality crew change can be carried out expect for following nationality 1) CHINA 2) PAKISTAN 3) BANGLADESH 4) IRAN 5) AFGHANISTAN 6) ALGERIA 7) NIGERIA 8) SOMALIA 9) CHINA can be repatriated with police escort and special permission.

b. Letter of Invitation ( LOI ) for applying Visa can be provided upon request to Agents, copy fo Passport & Seaman Book will be required

c.Types of Visa

  • For Crew Joining - TRANSIT VISA
  • For Owners Supdt / Port Captain PORT / Vessel Vist - BUSINESS VISA
  • Toursit Visa not applicable for Port Visit

 

GOODS AND SERVICE TAX

Goods and Service Tax ( GST ) applicable @ 18% on all services rendered and payable to Govt of India

IMPORTATION / REEXPORTATION OF VESSEL

a. For Foreign Flag vessel arriving for the first time in India and carrying out Coastal Shipment , Temporary vessel Importation to be carried out at Load Port and Re exportation to be carried out at last discharge Port

b. Foreign Flag vessel if fixed for Coastal trade shipments , D.G. Shipping Coastal Licence for Voyage or period to be applied , procedure to be followed

CASH TO MASTER

Agent is not authorized to disburse Cash to Master (CTM) in US Dollars currency, however same can be arranged through authorized Foreign Exchange dealers. They will deliver the CTM to the Master at the Port of Call.

CONVERSION / RECONVERSION

a. Once DG Shipping Licence is obtained for doing Coastal trade

b. Conversion from Foreign to Coastal to be carried out with Local Customs

c. For vessel getting Converted from Foreign to Coastal Customs Duty on Duty fee Bunkers and comsumables will be applicable

Following Services can be rendered as per requirement and availiablity at respective Ports

  • Fresh water supply
  • Garbage / Sludge Disposable
  • Supply of Provisions / Stores etc
  • Renewal of Certifications
  • Clearance for vessel arriving from Yellow fever ports ( if vessel arrives after 30 days then PHO yellow fever clearance not required )
  • Other services as per requirement which will be subject to availiability at respective ports

SHIPS SPARES TO BE CONNECTED ON VESSEL AT INDIAN PORTS

a. All ship spares to be Airfreighted and not to be sent in courier mode , as courier mode will attract Customs Duty and delay in clearing the spares

b. For major Ports it takes 3 working days for clearing the spares to be cleared and placed on baord , if spares to be connected to Minor India Ports, then 3 working days in International Airport plus 2 working days for transferring to Minor port

P & I Club

As per regulations all vessel arriving Indian Ports should have Valid P & I Certificate and should be registered with Internatinal P & I group and should come under IG Class
